If reporting from ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler is on the nose, the Chicago Bears backfield will be at full strength for tonight’s game against the Green Bay Packers.

D’Andre Swift, who has been limited in practice this week because of a groin issue, is expected to suit up and play in tonight’s primetime affair:

Bears running back D’Andre Swift was listed as questionable to play in Saturday’s game against the Packers after popping up as a limited participant in the team’s last two practices. It was troubling to see Chicago’s leading rusher on the injury report on Wednesday and Thursday after not appearing on it at all when the week started. However, it seems like he is good enough to give it a go on Saturday. Chicago’s offense could use his contributions to the ground game in the team’s attempt to knock off Green Bay.

The running back tandem of D’Andre Swift and rookie Kyle Monangai pack quite the punch. Swift has amassed 935 rushing yards on 191 carries in 13 games. The seven ground scores are the most he has had since posting eight as a rookie for the Detroit Lions in 2020. His contributions on the ground are part of a bounce-back season in which Swift has scored eight total touchdowns and is averaging 5.4 yards per touch this season. Swift hasn’t been this efficient or dynamic since his 2022 season (8 total touchdowns, 6.3 yards per touch, 931 scrimmage yards in 14 games) when he was in Detroit with Ben Johnson serving as the Lions’ offensive coordinator.

Dealing with a player working through an injury on a short week is a unique challenge. But it is one I think the Bears will be ready to handle. Ideally, D’Andre Swift will be in a position to handle something around his normal work load. If not, then we could see an uptick in snaps for Kyle Monangai and possibly some carries for DJ Moore or Olamide Zaccheaus. Stay tuned.
