Five Bears Listed As DNP On First Injury Report of Week 9 ...Middle East

Sport by : (Bleacher Nation) -

The first Chicago Bears injury report ahead of the team’s Sunday Night Football game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers has some notable names listed among the non-participants.

Before we start freaking out, we should point out that the first Bears injury report of the week is just an estimate of participation. After flying out from Seattle on Tuesday after the win on Monday Night Football, the Bears conducted a walk-through on Wednesday afternoon that lasted into the evening. Hence, this injury report post dropped after 8 p.m. CT. So I apologize if you were waiting on this one. That said, here are the five players who would not have practiced had the team held a regular session:

Offensive lineman Theo Benedet (shoulder) Linebacker T.J. Edwards (personal) Defensive lineman Grady Jarrett (groin) Running back Zavier Scott (wrist) Running back Kyle Monangai (thumb, toe)

Oof. That stings. The list above includes the Bears’ starting left tackle, their second-string running back (who I’d contend is as valuable as a starter), a rejuvenated veteran defensive lineman, and a reserve running back dealing with injuries as a short week gets underway. This isn’t ideal. At least Edwards’ absence isn’t injury-related. Still, this isn’t an encouraging way to start the week.

Chicago Bears defensive end Grady Jarrett (50) tackles Green Bay Packers running back Marshawn Lloyd (32) on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2026, at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Packers won the game, 31-7. Tork Mason/Green Bay Press-Gazette

This is where I usually try to highlight which of these injured Bears might be the most significant. But I’m struggling to pinpoint one that stands out.

Benedet played 100% of the offensive snaps on Monday, and I’d hate to lose a starting left tackle who I think is developing admirably on the fly. But at least Ozzy Trapilo should be waiting in the wings. Jarrett left MNF early with a groin injury. And since the team already lost Kentavius Street to injured reserve, the Jarrett update serves as a double whammy. Being without Monangai to start yet another week was a gut-punch. The Bears have survived without him, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t missed. If Scott’s injury is serious, it might be time to start browsing the waiver wire for potential practice squad flex candidates if push comes to shove.

Rounding out the injury report, cornerback Malik Muhammad remains limited because of a toe injury. He was listed as questionable in Week 8 before landing among the inactives. It would be nice to have a full set of cornerbacks going into the final week before the bye. Or maybe the front office will see this as an opportunity to push harder to trade for help in the secondary. Stay tuned.
