The Denver Broncos have a chance to head into their bye week after Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers at 7-2 if they can take care of business, but the team isn’t overlooking a scrappy Panthers team looking to bounce back.
Denver Broncos not overlooking the Carolina Panthers ahead of Sunday’s matchup
The Denver Broncos are riding high after their big-time AFC West victory against the Kansas City Chiefs this past Sunday, but their focus has shifted to the Carolina Panthers.
Carolina is dealing with a two-game skid that led to them firing Ejiro Evero, their defensive coordinator, and turning to interim DC Todd Wash, which begs the question — what changes scheme-wise after a coordinator change?
“I think this: You go by all of the film you have,” Sean Payton said. “Really in that first quarter, there may be some things that we see that maybe have changed a little. [It’s] hard to change everything in a short period of time. They have a base front and coverage they like to play and then they have a sub package and then it’s really more of when they’re playing it. Then us being able to in the first quarter see if there’s something that’s different than we’ve seen on film.”
Coming into Sunday’s game, the Panthers are coming off a mini bye week, which has allowed them to take a step back. Even though they’ve been in a skid, they’ve beaten some good teams this season, including the Detroit Lions and Atlanta Falcons.

Players inside Denver’s locker room aren’t buying into the notion that the Panthers have fallen off despite their recent two-game losing streak.
“It’s a playoff team,” Alex Singleton said. “You can watch the Rams go there last year and lose, a playoff team go there and barely win. It’s a really good football team — we’ve got to go play our best football this week.”
milehighsports.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/11/Zach-Allen-on-Panthers.mp4“Carolina is a helluva team,” Zach Allen said. “They’ve played really good opponents and those games can kind of always go 50-50. It’s still basically the same team with some really good additions from last year that was a playoff team. I don’t think we’re overlooking them at all. There’s a lot of talent, and we definitely have to be right if we want to win this game, and guys having the right attitude about it.”
Broncos injury report for Wednesday
During the media viewing portion of the Broncos’ practice on Wednesday, wide receiver Pat Bryant (ankle) was present and active and is eligible to come off of injured reserve this week.
Bryant mentioned earlier this week on a local news program that he was running 100% and should be good to go vs. Carolina.
I spotted safety Talanoa Hufanga, who was present with a helmet and jersey, but he was not actively participating during the media viewing period and was a DNP on the report. Safety Brandon Jones was present today after he left Sunday’s game with a hamstring injury but did not participate.
The only two players who were not present today were defensive lineman Eyioma Uwazurike and cornerback Kris Abrams-Draine.
Following practice, the team released its official injury report with participation statuses.
Cornerback Kris Abrams-Draine – ankle – did not participate. Safety Brandon Jones – hamstring – did not participate. Safety Talanoa Hufanga – ankle – did not participate. Defensive lineman Eyioma Uwazurike – shoulder – did not participate. Defensive lineman Zach Allen – NIR-rest – limited participation. Wide receiver Pat Bryant – ankle – full participation.
