While the city of Chicago basks in the praise stemming from Monday night’s victory over the Seahawks, Seattle left that game with more than a notch in the loss column.

Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald told reporters during his Wednesday press conference that starting quarterback Sam Darnold suffered a quad injury in the loss to the Bears at Lumen Field and will miss Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals. Macdonald said the quad injury occurred late in the game, but another report says Darnold also suffered a cracked rib from a big hit by Chicago nickelback Kyler Gordon on the second play of the game:

#Seahawks QB Sam Darnold also cracked a rib on the second play of Monday night's game … and played the rest of the game through it.This was the hit from #Bears DB Kyler Gordon ? t.co/OI4XpIWzWn pic.twitter.com/xvpCPrf4qC

— Ari Meirov (@MySportsUpdate) November 4, 2026 Macdonald said today that Drew Lock will get the start against the Cardinals on Sunday. Lock is serviceable, and the Cardinals aren’t very good—although they did beat the Rams recently—so there shouldn’t be much concern for the Seahawks, who will look to get back into the win column this week. Darnold missed time earlier this season with a glute injury suffered in the season opener against the Patriots. Lock replaced him and completed 16-of-22 for 187 yards and a touchdown in that game, then started Week 2 against the Cardinals, completing 19-of-26 for 235 yards and three touchdowns. As for the Bears’ opponent this week, that’s the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who just beat the Atlanta Falcons without completing a single pass on Sunday. Head coach Ben Johnson complimented Bucs head coach Todd Bowles for recognizing that the ground game would be their early path, with Tampa’s offensive line and running backs creating a unique win. Entering Sunday’s contest, Tampa’s rushing offense ranks No. 1 in the league, averaging 168.6 yards per contest. Chicago’s ranks second in the league at 150.8 yards per game. This isn’t an unfamiliar challenge for Chicago DC Dennis Allen. When he prepared for the Atlanta Falcons a few weeks ago, they sat atop the league’s team rushing leaderboard. Chicago’s defense, as short-handed as it’s been at any point this year, held Bijan Robinson to 61 yards on nine carries, and the Falcons to 63 yards on 11 carries as a team. Mandatory Credit: Jim Dedmon-Imagn Images Much of that success can be attributed to Robinson’s limited carries in that one, the Bears offense jumping out to a sizeable lead, and Allen’s defense taking the Falcons off the field quickly throughout the game. Tampa has been terrific this season on the ground, but they have no Bijan, and the Bears have Jeffery Simmons (not on the team) and Montez Sweat (suspended) in the mix this week, and not in the Atlanta game. That’s not to discredit the season Bucky Irving is having. He’s rushed for 728 yards and five touchdowns on 147 carries (5.0 yards per rush), and that’s nothing to scoff at. Speaking of Simmons, I came across this video of clips between him and a Titans reporter during his time in Tennessee, and it’s worth your time. It’s funny, and a nice insight into Simmons in the locker room and as a person.

Man watch this video of Jeffery Simmons it’s straight comedy? pic.twitter.com/jaQ4xISRUH

— DaClips (@DaBearsclips) November 3, 2026 D’Andre Swift has 10 touchdowns this season. He’s four away from tying Walter Payton and George Halas’ joint single-season record. He also has more touchdowns than the entire Chargers offense through two months of the season, which is hilarious. On a recent episode of the St. Brown Bros podcast, Rams defensive back Quentin Lake called the Bears, Packers, and Lions “fluky,” which is crazy coming from a player on a team that just lost to the Arizona Cardinals a few weeks ago.

— Bassey (@0xBassey) November 4, 2026 More high praise for Caleb Williams, this time from FOX’s Steven Ruiz:

My boy @theStevenRuiz gets it. Caleb Williams is not who you think he is. He's something much more terrifying than that now. pic.twitter.com/Rgz6JQEoR6
