Can our 1-6 Chicago Bulls steal a win on the road against a semi-rickety New York Knicks squad that seems to still be finding its footing after winning it all this summer?
Last week, in their first encounter of the year, Chicago led New York by 19 points at home in the second half! But even that wasn’t enough of an edge to survive the inevitable fourth-quarter Jalen Brunson rally, which yielded an eventual 133-127 Knicks win.
After getting shellacked by a loaded Philadelphia 76ers squad on Monday, the Bulls now head to Madison Square Garden, where they will hopefully at least lose in less embarrassing fashion during their second New York game in eight days.

What To Watch For
Under new head coach Tiago Splitter, the Bulls have found all kinds of ways to lose already in this young season. Chicago had at one point snagged the lead in both its narrow losses to the Knicks and the Washington Wizards. More often than not, though, the Bulls have been getting walloped in lopsided blowouts. Our average margin of defeat? 20.2 points a night. The Bulls have been noticeably apathetic about fighting for defensive rebounds/second-chance points, with more of an emphasis on sprinting back. Given that their man-to-man defense is pretty limited, that doesn’t feel like the right play, either. Chicago also can’t control the ball, with its 16.9 turnovers a night currently ranking as the league’s fifth-worst. The Knicks should easily be able to capitalize on those miscues, even if injured starting shooting guard Josh Hart won’t be the guy hounding All-Star two Norman Powell tonight. Rookie stud Caleb Wilson, still just 20, is the only player on this Bulls roster who actually matters. We know that. But the jury’s still out on young pieces like power forward Noa Essengue, combo forward Leonard Miller, small forward Matas Buzelis, shooting guard Dailyn Swain, and point guard Josh Giddey. Buzelis and Giddey have been particularly disappointing this year, to the point where Splitter might want to look for a change in his starting lineup. Swain hasn’t been a part of Splitter’s regular rotations yet. Essengue and Miller, though, have shown serious promise in finite bench minutes. Against this athletic Knicks team, Chicago may want to explore more run for the team’s younger bigs. Splitter has had a quick hook for Buzelis especially, as his available ball handlers behind Giddey are limited to… Tre Jones. Chicago has tried out Swain as a playmaker in Summer League and the regular season, to little avail thus far. Miller and Chicago’s best point-of-attack defender, shooting guard Isaac Okoro, have often gotten the nod over Buzelis. Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns handles the ball against Bulls big Jalen Smith.Injury Report
