The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County rose Friday for the ninth time in 10 days, increasing six-tenths of a cent to $4.744, its highest amount since May 30.
The average price has increased 5.3 cents over the past 10 days, including eight-tenths of a cent on Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. It rose three-tenths of a cent Sept. 3, was unchanged Sept. 4, and resumed increasing last Friday.
The average price is 4.6 cents more than one week ago, 18.7 cents higher than one month ago, and 3.7 cents greater than one year ago. It has dropped $1.69 since reaching a record high of $6.434 on October 5, 2022.
“Oil Price Information Service reports that Los Angeles wholesale gasoline prices shot up late last week after some supply fluctuations, but have dropped a bit in recent days, so the upward price trend at the pump may not last,” Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager, said in a statement.
The national average price dropped six-tenths of a cent to $3.188, one day after rising one-tenth of a cent. It is 1.6 cents less than one week ago, 5.3 cents lower than one year ago, but 4.8 cents more than one month ago.
The national average price has dropped $1.828 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
