Pedestrian Struck, Killed in Escondido; Police Investigating ...Middle East

Police were investigating an incident on Monday in which a pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle in Escondido.

The collision occurred around 11:55 p.m. Saturday in the 1100 block of East Washington Ave. near the intersection of North Ash St., according to the Escondido Police Department.

Responding officers discovered a pedestrian in the roadway and performed life-saving measures until Escondido Fire medics arrived, police said.

The victim was taken to Palomar Medical Center, where the person died shortly afterward, according to police. The individual’s identity has not been released.

Police said the driver remained at the scene and was not arrested or cited.
