The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has arrested two people for the murder of Christina Downer, the sister of Saturday Night Live writer Jimmy Fowlie.
Delorean Bijon Brandon, 41, who was Downer’s boyfriend, and Kaylee Nicole Markowski, 34, were arrested on Thursday, Oct. 29, according to a statement from the LAPD released on X.com on Friday, Oct. 30.
“On December 18, 2025, Christina Downer was reported missing after her ex-husband requested a welfare check when he had not heard from her for an extended period of time,” the LAPD said in the statement. “Downer’s boyfriend, Delorean Brandon, claimed that she had moved out several months earlier, leaving behind all her belongings, including her vehicle and dog.”
“Robbery-Homicide Division detectives assumed the investigation after Downer’s cellphone was discovered washed ashore on Santa Monica Beach,” the LAPD statement explained. “Through various investigative techniques, detectives identified Delorean Brandon and Kaylee Markowski as the individuals responsible for Downer’s murder, the disposal of her body, and the concealment of their involvement.”
In April, Fowlie shared an Instagram post that noted the belief that his sister’s “phone and social media were compromised” around the time that she went missing, while also telling his social media followers that those who took her phone appeared to have “used it to hide the fact she was gone, to ask for money, and to create a false narrative that she was going ‘off the grid.’”
At the same time, Fowlie announced that “the LAPD has informed our family that Christina is no longer alive, and the case has officially transitioned from a missing person to a homicide investigation.”
Following the arrests, the LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division will present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration, while the investigation remains ongoing.
