At the end of Fire Country Season 5 Episode 3, Sharon found a bag full of money, and she had a big decision to make in this latest hour. It was clear from her words to Eve at the end and from the promo for Fire Country Season 5 Episode 4 that she was going to keep the money.
There was a moment where it looked like Wes was going to talk her out of it. He made it clear that it would be hard to wash the money, and he also pointed out that some dangerous people might be after it. Yet, she was adamant that she wanted to put Station 42 safe.
Meanwhile, Station 42 had a bigger issue. A video of Jake going around telling people to evacuate houses that were going to burn down circulated online, leading to a legal issue. Only he could put it right.
What Does Sharon Do With the Money on ‘Fire Country’ Season 5 Episode 4?
It was always obvious that Sharon wasn’t going to say no to the chance to save Station 42. Wes also wasn’t one to just say no to his stepdaughter. However, he thought one step ahead when it came to managing the risk of people coming after her. He took some of the money and burned it in the house to make it look like all the money had gone up in flames.
It took some time for him to do that, though. Due to the legal battle and the viral video, there were plenty of news crews around the burned down home.
Eventually, though, he’s able to manage it. That allows him to wash the rest of the money and make the anonymous donation to help Station 42.
Sure enough, Sharon goes through with it all, and she makes her first hiring decision. Despite CJ saying that she was ready to leave Edgewater for San Francisco, she decides to take up Sharon’s offer to join Station 42 full-time. Is it possible that the hookup with Mason in the Smokey’s bathroom helped with that decision?
Yes, Jay Hayden’s Mason turned up at the very end of the hour, sharing that he was back to help revitalize a family business. There are clearly secrets he’s hiding.

As the pressure comes down on Station 42 and Three Rock — because Eve lied about where the radiator came from — it’s up to Jake to save the day. And he does it in one of the most meaningful ways possible.
He simply apologizes.
It’s Sharon who comes up with this, because sometimes, people just want to understand and they want to hear “I’m sorry.” Jake explains to the family who is suing that he didn’t want to make the call, but he had no choice. The fire had already spread to the roof of their house, and there was no saving it. As he added heart to the story, the family decided that it wasn’t right to sue and pulled everything.
As for Eve, it looks like she’s safe for now, but there are questions about whether she’ll continue to be Three Rock’s captain. After Angel gets a visit from Manny and the two have it out about how Manny left and everything changed for Angel, the boy realizes that he needs to give Eve the burner. The question is whether it’s his only burner.

Meanwhile, Bode has to prove that his volunteer firefighters are up to the task, and that means passing the Pack Test. It’s where they need to walk three miles in less than 45 minutes with packs on their back.
They’re derailed by all of this when there’s a baby goat stuck in the woods. As the goat looks injured, they decide to head down to save it, only to find out that the blood isn’t the goat’s. It’s human blood, and that takes them to a farm, where a man has ended up trapped under his tractor.
As they get to work on stabilizing the tractor and the barn wall, they also call in Three Rock and Station 42. It’s soon clear that there is no saving him, and Bode and Manny have to make an excruciatingly hard decision. All this man wants is to see his wife one last time, and they’re able to allow him to die without regrets.
It’s a haunting way to end the episode, but it gives Bode the realization that he needs when it comes to Chloe, who had flown in for the weekend. He wants to figure out how to make the long-distance relationship work with her.
As for the volunteer firefighters, they unknowingly pass the Pack Test. CJ points out that the distance from where they found the goat to the barn was just more than three miles, and they did it in under 45 minutes. It’s a bittersweet realization, but the volunteers live to fight fires another day — and they also prove that they are a great bunch of volunteers.
