WEDDINGTON, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — An 82-year-old man injured during a home explosion in Union County has died, officials say. Wesley Deckers had been receiving care at a long-term care facility after being discharged from the hospital. He passed away on Nov. 29, after sustaining extensive burns. “This was a tragic accident, and our thoughts are with Mr. Decker's loved ones,” said Jon Williams, Union County Fire Marshal. “We remain committed to conducting thorough investigations to provide closure to those affected.” This Weddington home exploded Sunday, Nov. 18, and the couple who lives there were both injured.
