Leave it to Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg to come up with a Halloween version of gin and juice. I’ve always enjoyed watching these two together, and I’m a sucker for a good Halloween cocktail. So when I came across their recipe, I knew I had to make it. I mean, Martha knows a thing or two about throwing a party, and Snoop certainly knows his gin and juice.

I love seeing all the creative food and drinks people come up with for Halloween. Even a cocktail you’ve made a hundred times can get a little Halloween treatment. I’m always looking for recipes I can recreate at home, especially ones that would be fun to serve when friends come over. I also appreciate a cocktail that doesn’t require a trip to three different liquor stores to track down all the ingredients. Martha and Snoop’s recipe looked pretty simple, and I liked that it could work for a small gathering or a bigger Halloween bash. Plus, I was looking forward to trying my hand at their special Halloween ice cube decorations.

So I picked up everything I needed for their Halloween punch recipe and got to work. I wanted to see how the cocktail tasted, how easy it was to make and whether I’d want to serve it at my own Halloween party. See how it all turned out, plus a few fun ways to take this fun punch to the next level.

The Story Behind Martha & Snoop’s Spooky ‘Gin & Juice’

Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg have been an unlikely duo for years, from their cooking show to their many TV appearances together. In 2025, they appeared on TODAY with a Halloween cocktail inspired by Snoop’s famous “Gin and Juice.”

Their drink is actually a variation of the Salty Dog, a classic cocktail made with gin or vodka, grapefruit juice and a salted rim. For their version, they used Still G.I.N., the gin brand Snoop launched with Dr. Dre in 2024.

But this isn’t your typical Salty Dog. The two gave it a Halloween makeover with a black-and-white rim and ice cubes containing fake cockroaches. Yes, cockroaches!

What You Need to Make This Halloween Punch

You don’t need many ingredients to make Martha and Snoop’s Halloween cocktail. The drink itself calls for just three, with a few extras for the Halloween presentation.

Here’s what you’ll need to make two cocktails:

3 ounces gin: Martha uses Still G.I.N., but you can use your favorite gin. 7 ounces grapefruit juice: Freshly squeezed or store-bought both work. 4 teaspoons simple syrup: This helps cut the tartness of the grapefruit juice. Black salt and granulated sugar: You’ll need equal parts to coat the rims of the glasses. Regular ice: For shaking the cocktails. Food-safe plastic cockroaches: For the Halloween ice cubes. Ice cube tray: Large enough to fit the plastic cockroaches.

You’ll also need a cocktail shaker, two glasses and a shallow plate for coating the rims.

Martha takes the Halloween theme pretty seriously, even with the ice cubes. Her version has fake cockroaches frozen right inside them.

To make them, start with food-safe plastic cockroaches and wash them thoroughly with soap and water. Rinse them well, then place one in each compartment of a large silicone ice cube tray. Fill with water and freeze until solid, preferably overnight. You can use other creepy-crawlies for the same effect too.

Just make sure guests know the plastic bugs are decorations and should be removed as the ice melts. Alternatively, you can freeze edible gummy worms, spiders or other bugs into the cubes for a similar effect.

How to Scale the Cocktail Into a Big-Batch Punch Bowl

If you’re hosting a Halloween party, making these cocktails one at a time isn’t practical. Fortunately, you can easily make enough for a crowd.

For approximately 12 servings, you’ll need:

18 ounces gin (2¼ cups) 42 ounces grapefruit juice (5¼ cups) ½ cup simple syrup

Combine everything in a large punch bowl or pitcher and stir well. Taste and adjust the sweetness if needed, then refrigerate until you’re ready to serve.

Rather than adding ice directly to the punch bowl, pour the mixture into individual glasses filled with ice. This keeps the punch cold without watering down the entire batch. You can also prepare the black salt and sugar mixture ahead of time for guests to rim their glasses.

My Honest Review: Does the Snoop & Martha Punch Deliver?

I’ll admit, I was a little skeptical about this cocktail at first. I’m not a big grapefruit guy, and I was worried the juice would be too tart and overpowering. But, I was pleasantly surprised.

The simple syrup helped cut through the tartness, while the black salt and sugar rim added another dimension to the drink. I especially liked how the sweetness and saltiness worked with the grapefruit rather than letting it overpower everything else.

I also appreciated how easy it was to make. The cocktail itself comes together in just a few minutes, and the Halloween presentation makes it even more fun to serve. I’d definitely make this again for a Halloween party.

5 Ways to Customize Your Punch Bowl

Want to put your own spin on Martha and Snoop’s Halloween cocktail? There are several ways to adjust the recipe, depending on what you and your guests like to drink.

Add some bubbles. Top off your cocktail with a splash of club soda or grapefruit sparkling water. You can also use Prosecco if you want something a little more festive. Try a different liquor. Not a fan of gin? Vodka has a more neutral taste, while blanco tequila adds earthy, peppery notes that pair well with grapefruit. Make it a little sweeter. If grapefruit juice is too tart for your liking, add more simple syrup a teaspoon at a time. Ruby red grapefruit juice is also generally sweeter than white grapefruit juice. Give it some heat. Add a few slices of fresh jalapeño to the punch, or use Tajín instead of black salt for the rim. Just go easy on the jalapeños so they don’t overpower the grapefruit. Add fresh fruit and herbs. Float thin slices of grapefruit or blood orange in the punch bowl. A few sprigs of fresh rosemary also make a nice garnish.

Final Thoughts

Martha and Snoop basically put a classic Salty Dog in a Halloween costume, and I love that idea. If you have a favorite cocktail, why not give it the same treatment? You might have just as much fun coming up with the Halloween version as you do drinking it.
