Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappé has the highest average FotMob player rating in Europe since the start of October. He headlines our Team of the Month.
Another month of 2026-27 season is in the bag, but who across the top five European leagues stood out? Well, FotMob’s player ratings can answer that very question for us.Using those ratings, we’ve put together our European Team of the Month, with Opta data allowing us a more in-depth look at the performances behind those ratings.
Following an extended international break, league action resumed on 9 October after two weekends off.
Four matchdays have been played since, ending on Monday 2 November with games across the Premier League, Ligue 1, the Bundesliga and Serie A. This team picks out the highest performers between those dates.
Goalkeeper: Matvey Safonov (Paris Saint-Germain) – 8.0
October was a good month for Paris Saint-Germain, who won all four of their Ligue 1 matches to rise to the top of the table.
That may not have been possible without the work of Jan Paul van Hecke made a real impression.
Only seven defenders have engaged in more duels in the Premier League than Van Hecke (44) since the start of October, and just one of them (James Hill – 70.2%) won a greater proportion than the Dutchman (63.6%).
He was particularly dominant in the 2-0 win over rivals Chelsea, winning 10 of 13 duels overall, and eight of nine aerial duels.
Van Hecke’s month was rounded off in style on Saturday with another commanding display, capped by bundling in Spurs’ second in the 2-0 win over Crystal Palace. Admittedly, his day was made rather easier by Jean-Philippe Mateta’s early red card, but you can only play what’s in front of you.
The Dutchman is the only player to appear in both our Premier League and European League Team of the Month.
Central Defence: Dayot Upamecano (Bayern Munich) – 7.8
Bayern Munich didn’t keep a single Bundesliga clean sheet in October, but Adrien Rabiot has enjoyed a wonderful start to the 2026-27 season, tallying eight goal involvements (5 goals, 3 assists); he’s already just two adrift of his total for 2025-26.
His gorgeous finish from Diego Moreira’s corner in Saturday’s derby win over Inter made Rabiot only the third Milan midfielder to be involved in at least one goal in five consecutive Serie A matches on record (since 2004-05) after Hakan Çalhanoglu (July 2020) and Kaká (October 2004 and May 2008).
Prior to Saturday, he’d also found the net against Atalanta with a low right-footed finish, and he scored with a ferocious left-footed strike from a tight angle at Sassuolo.
Rabiot’s goal against Atalanta was accompanied by an assist for Mario Gila, too, flicking on a corner at the near post.
No nominal central midfielder across the top five leagues has tallied more goal involvements than Rabiot since the start of October; his place here is well deserved.
Central Midfield: Nico Paz (Como) – 8.3
Surely one of European football’s next superstars, Kylian Mbappé may not have won the Ballon d’Or, but he can console himself with inclusion in our European Team of the Month…
Real Madrid’s season has found another gear since the start of October, and Mbappé played a massive role in that, scoring in his last three games, including braces against Sevilla and Barcelona.
No player in Europe’s top five leagues has generated as many expected goals (xG) as Mbappé since the start of October (5.5); even when we remove his two penalties, his 3.9 non-pen xG is still the second most.
Admittedly, he got a little fortunate with his first against Barcelona, but his second rounded off a brilliant counterattack, and his second against Sevilla was arguably one of the goals of the season.
His average FotMob rating of 8.33 in La Liga this season is on course to be a new personal best for Mbappé in a league campaign.
Centre Forward: Niclas Füllkrug (Werder Bremen) – 8.4
