Frontier Airlines sent a mass warning to its passengers of an active scam that could put them in jeopardy.
The Denver-based airline sent out an email to its passengers on Monday, November 2, stating, “We are aware of an active email phishing campaign targeting our customers. Frontier Airlines does not email customers requesting flight, reservation, payment or contact detail information. Do not respond to any email seeking this type of information.”
According to Frontier, the company will never contact flyers to request that they “revalidate or confirm an upcoming flight or reservation,” “re-enter or confirm credit card information, ” or “provide payment information to receive a partial or full refund.”
A Reddit thread went viral over the weekend from one Frontier flyer who claimed to have received an email with their flight info, including confirmation number.
“It tries to get you to put in credit card info, which I’m sure available funds would be drained,” the user warned. “Be careful out there, and don’t interact [with] any emails that aren’t directly from flyfrontier.com!”
accrued hundreds of comments from passengers who received similar emails, with many calling it “one of the better scams I’ve seen.”
For their part, Frontier warns those who received the email not to click any links or buttons in the message, enter or re-enter credit card, payment, login, or personal information, reply to the message, or use contact information contained within it.
