Juliet Mills is looking back at her “wild, wonderful years” on Passions.
According to People, the 84-year-old recalled her time on the NBC soap opera while appearing onstage at the 53rd Daytime Emmy Awards on Oct. 30. Mills took the stage to help the Emmys celebrate the history of daytime television and the role Passions has played in cementing its legacy.
“Those wild, wonderful years on Jim and Lisa’s show, Passions for NBC, was a truly magical time for us all in harmony,” Mills said. “And fun fact, Passions stood as the most recent network daytime drama right up until Beyond the Gate.”
Mills continued, remembering how close she and her cast mates became throughout the show.
“On Passions, I got to mourn from Tabitha the Witch, to Catherine the Great, to Colonel Sanders. We were a beautiful company, borderline crazy, but a real family of players,” she continued. “My little Timmy, my Josh [Ryan Evans], you will always be in my heart.”
The 84-year-old then thanked her industry peers and fans for supporting Passions.
“I’m so proud to be standing here talking to our colleagues and to the legions of fans who tuned in every week to give our unique and innovative show Passions without the nimble and versatile format of daytime drama. We could never have mixed the supernatural with the silly, the dramatic with the comedic, nearly as much as we did.”
Mills credited that support with helping make “our show an experience that was only possible in this brilliant genre.”
“And I’m so very grateful to have been a part of it,” she said, concluding her remarks. “All in a nutshell, long live daytime!”
Mills played Tabitha Lenox on Passions from 1999 to 2008. The show aired on NBC from 1999 to 2007 before moving to DirecTV in 2008.
