Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Two more women have announced their verbal commitment to swim for the U.S. Air Force Academy beginning in the fall of 2027: Lucy Xi, a fly and IM specialist from Texas, and Sophia Floyd, a free and back specialist from Indiana.

Xi is a senior at Lebanon Trail High School in Frisco, where she competed for the school’s varsity swimming and diving team during her freshman year. She currently trains year-round with Lakeside Aquatic Club.

“I am exceptionally humbled to announce my verbal commitment to further my both academic and athletic careers at the United States Air Force Academy! I am deeply grateful to my parents for the countless sacrifices they have made to help me reach this moment, and to my twin sister Lily for her endless love and support. Thank you to my friends and teammates for always believing in me, and Coach John from Lakeside for getting me to where I am today. Without any of you, nothing would have been possible. Finally, I am beyond thankful for Coach Murphy and Coach Cameron for this incredible opportunity to be part of something greater than myself. SKO FALCS!!”

Xi turned in a series of strong performances at the 2025 Winter Junior Championship – West in December. She contested the 50 free (23.90 – PB), 100 free (51.95 – PB), 100 breast (1:04.81 – PB) and 200 IM (2:04.97). At the 2026 Justin Sectionals in March, she earned a second swim in four events and clocked three new lifetime best times. She placed 5th in the 200 IM (2:05.34), 7th in the 100 fly (55.22), 11th in the 50 fly (24.91 – PB) and 35th in the 100 free (52.22). She also set a personal best time in the 50 free (23.54) as the leadoff on the 200 free relay.

    Best Times SCY:

    50 free – 23.54 100 free – 51.80 100 breast – 1:04.71 100 fly – 55.14 200 IM – 2:04.66

Floyd, meanwhile, is a senior at Carmel High School and trains year-round with Carmel Swim Club, where she excels at free, back and IM.

“I’m so excited and honored to announce my verbal commitment to the United States Air Force Academy where I will continue my academic studies and swim career! All glory to God for being my guiding light throughout this journey and the recruiting process. I am so grateful for my family’s love, guidance and support. Thank you to Coach Plumb and the Carmel Swim Club staff who helped me get to this point in my swimming career. A huge thank you to Coach Cameron and Coach Murphy for this incredible opportunity. A special shout-out to Coach Kaz for inspiring me to serve. Can’t wait to join the Air Force family! Go Falcons!! #YOLO”

At the 2025 Winter Junior Championship – East in December, Floyd logged two lifetime best performances; she contested the 200 free (1:52.98), 100 back (57.27 – PB) and 200 back (2:00.54 – PB). She turned in another series of fast swims at the 2026 Four Corners Sectionals in March, earning a second swim in five events. She placed 6th in the 200 back (2:00.04 – PB), 14th in the 200 free (1:50.63 – PB), 23rd in the 100 back (56.87 – PB), 26th in the 200 IM (2:06.78 – PB) and 40th in the 100 free (52.65).

    Best Times SCY:

    100 back – 56.87 200 back – 2:00.04 100 free – 51.42 200 free – 1:50.63 200 IM – 2:06.78

A Division I Mid-Major, Air Force competes in the Mountain West Conference, with the women’s team placing 6th at last season’s conference championships. To earn a second swim at the 2026 Mountain West Conference Championships, it took times of 23.36/50.98/1:51.49 in the 50/100/200 free, 56.79/2:01.55 in the 100/200 back, 1:04.34 in the 100 breast, 54.92 in the 100 fly and 2:04.42 in the 200 IM. Based on their best times, Floyd would have earned a second swim in the 200 back and 200 free, while Xi would have been right on the cusp in several of her top events.

With eight seniors on Air Force’s roster this season, Xi and Floyd will help fill the gaps left behind moving into the 2027-2028 season.

The list of recruits committed to join Xi and Floyd in the pool next fall currently includes Irene Kim, Eileen Song, Maddie Keller, Lila Brock, Ally Gordon, Ryan Webb, Margaux Wheat, Sophia Borowski and Abby Lehmkuhler, all of whom should make for strong training partners over their four years together.
