Alex Singleton leads NFL in tackles with 87.
No one is even close.
Singleton deserves recognition as the most consistent tackler and the guy most often getting his helmet in on the action.
Alex Singleton leads NFL in tackles
Singleton is used to leading the Broncos in tackles.
The inside linebacker has led the team in tackles three-of-four years he’s been with the team. The only time he didn’t was in 2024 when he had to miss half the season due to a knee injury.
Not even testicular cancer, which he hid from teammates, could force him to lose his lead in tackles last year. Singleton discovered a lump pregame in Week 10, played, and then sat out Week 11 after getting surgery.
The dude missed only one game!
If that’s not macho, I don’t know what is.
This year he’s back on his game once again.
Singleton leads the Broncos and the entire NFL with 87 total tackles to this point. The next-highest player? Fred Warner of the San Francisco 49ers with 71. The Broncos linebacker is out-pacing the 49ers legend by nearly 20 percent.
And last week was his most prolific game of the season. Singleton totaled 19 tackles, 12 of them solo, 1 tackle for a loss, and also registered two quarterback hits.

One of those hits on the QB was this one to Jacoby Brissett’s legs. It was called roughing the passer, a questionable flag.

If Brissett doesn’t jump in the air, he wouldn’t have been launched back. But Singleton did lead with his helmet and hit with the crown.
One thing is for sure, his physicality is unmatched.
Broncos defense brings the physicality
In Week 1, it looked like the Broncos didn’t want to tackle anyone.
They had 24 missed tackles as a unit and were completely embarrassed by Kenneth Walker III and the Chiefs on national television. Singleton, the surest tackler on the team, missed a team-high four tackles in that contest.
Since then, the entire unit has been playing with more physicality as they try to lower the boom.
Talanoa Hufanga is always a great tackler, and he had a few solid hits before missing the last two games. In his stead, we’ve seen Brandon Jones with some big hits and Justin Strnad has been filling some gaps in the run game as well. And we can’t forget big hits by the big guys up front; Zach Allen, Malcolm Roach, and Nik Bonitto.
All while Singleton has been in on seemingly every play.
At times, those big hits aren’t as technically sound as they should be. Sometimes ball carriers are bouncing off and continuing to run.
Even as recent as last week, the Broncos missed 16 total tackles in Arizona. That’s way too many, and the team leads the NFL with 54 missed tackles to this point. (PFF says it’s 93 missed tackles.)
So, while Singleton is balling out, he needs to step up his leadership a notch more and get his guys to wrap up. Sound tackles are key, and they will be this week certainly.
Kenneth Walker comes to town, the same K9 who killed Denver in Week 1. To the tune of 23 carries for 173 yards and a touchdown. Walker has forced the most missed tackles in the NFL this year with 42 according to Pro Football Focus.
The Broncos (5-2) and Chiefs (5-1) go toe-to-toe at Empower Field at Mile High Stadium on Sunday, Nov. 1 with a 2:25 p.m. MT kickoff. The winner will lead the AFC West.
