100 Years of Kenan Stadium: Swamping the Gators

To commemorate Kenan Stadium’s centennial season, 97.9 The Hill is inviting community members to share their favorite Kenan memories from the past 100 years. This twice-weekly series will showcase stories from players and fans throughout the fall.

The term “football weather” doesn’t usually imply a driving rainstorm, but one of the most memorable wins in UNC history came on just that kind of day. Author and historian Art Chansky remembers that fateful (and wet) day at Kenan Stadium almost 60 years ago, when a top 10 Florida team found itself bogged down in the mud.
