An evacuation order has been issued for part of Murphys in Calaveras County as firefighters battle the Ross Fire, which has burned an estimated 20 acres, officials said Friday.

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire) said the fire is burning near Canyon Court and has crossed Rolling Meadow Drive. No containment has been reported, but crews said they've laid hoses around both flanks and the fire is holding.

    Cal Fire's Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit said the fire had a moderate rate of spread.
