Patsy Kensit has teased the circumstances of Sadie King's return to Emmerdale - and it's safe to say that ex-hubby Jimmy's (Nick Miles) world is about to be turned upside down.

The actress's comeback was announced earlier this year, two decades since she last performed on the ITV soap. At the same time, Miles' exit after 22 years was reported.

Although exact details have yet to be confirmed about what brings Sadie back to the village, Kensit dropped a number of huge hints at a press event hosted by the serial drama.

Speaking to Radio Times, she said: "I was very happily surprised to get the call 20 years down the road, and I came up to meet with our fantastic producer Laura [Shaw].

"We talked about storylines and what they were going to do, and it sounded great. I've been up here six weeks now and it's just flying by."

"I really hope the audience are going to enjoy it, that's all we really want to see," she continued, "I heard that it was a very positive response [to the announcement of her return]. I think people did love the character."

When asked who Sadie might be interacting with, Kensit responded: "There's a whole new roster of people. I've been doing stuff with Ryan [Hawley], who plays Robert, and I had a day of me and Jeff [Hordley, Cain Dingle], sort of tying up the past.

"Believe me, you will not be disappointed."

In a separate chat with RT and other media, she added: "She's got an agenda. The secret that she comes back with is going to be absolutely shocking, and whether all is quite as it seems, we shall see as the story progresses.

"But it's going to be pretty big and pretty shocking."

Series producer Laura Shaw added: "Sadie comes back in a dramatic way - just how she arrived last time. I think her arrival will be every bit as amazing and brilliant as the first time around.

"I think probably the most shocking thing is definitely the reason that brings her back. It's undoubtedly one of the biggest secrets we've ever had within the King family, and it's going to be pretty explosive."

Kensit also confirmed that she's at Emmerdale "until December" - unconfirmed reports last weekend said that her exit story will see Sadie fake her own death. Whether or not that means she wraps filming at Christmas, extending her run until 2027, or whether the character departs over the festive period remains to be seen.

Shaw continued: "I'm not sure that everyone is going to welcome Sadie back with open arms. In fact, I think it's probably quite quite the opposite. But what you'll kind of see is that there's quite a few of our residents who don't know Sadie involved.

"So that's going to mean that it opens up maybe one or two new surprising friendships for Sadie. Whether those people are right to trust Sadie or not is a different matter, and we'll have to see what happens there."
