India Test and ODI skipper Shubman Gill has earned nomination for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for June, after his spectacular showing against Afghanistan. The 26-year-old first scored a ton (126) in the one-off Test in New Chandigarh, and then followed it up with an 84 in the Dharamsala ODI, and 154 in the Lucknow ODI.
The uber-talented batter has great numbers to show, in his career. In 41 Tests, he averages 44 and has nearly scored 3000 runs with 11 tons and 8 fifties. In the 64 ODIs, he has 3191 runs at an average of 59 with 9 tons and 18 fifties. Apart from Shubman Gill, the other nominations are Bangladesh all-rounder Mossadek Hossain and Kiwi pacer Nathan Smith.
Hossain made a comeback to the international side after a gap of four year, and also won the Player of the series in their historic 2-1 win over Australia. In the first match, he scored 86 and picked up two wickets. In fact, he finished the series as the top run-getter with 157. Meanwhile, Smith helped New Zealand clinch the England Test series 2-1. He finished as the leading wicket-taker with 16 scalps after the end of the three matches, and also won the Player of the Series award, for his returns.

In the women’s section, Shree Charani gets nominated for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for June. The young spinner had a great Women’s T20 World Cup where she finished as the highest wicket-taker — 14 scalps in 5 matches. That despite India getting ousted in the league stages itself.
The other nominations are — England’s Danii Wyatt-Hodge and Scotland’s Kathryn Bryce. The English woman went on to score 287 runs in six innings at an average of 71 and at a strike-rate of 151. Bryce went on to score 178 runs and also claimed 11 wickets at an average of 15, and an economy of 7.10.
