Speedo Sectionals finalist Maxx Vazirani has announced his verbal commitment to swim and study at Georgetown University beginning in the fall of 2027. He publicized the news on SwimCloud, writing:
I’m excited and incredibly grateful to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Georgetown University! I want to thank my family, friends, teammates, and Coach Jon and Coach Sandro for supporting me throughout this journey. A huge thank you to Coach John and the entire Georgetown staff for believing in me and giving me this amazing opportunity. I’m blessed for everyone who has helped me get to this point. HOYA SAXA!
A rising senior at Brookline High School in Massachusetts, Vazirani trains year-round with Charles River Aquatics, where he primarily specializes in distance freestyle.
Vazirani is coming off a strong 2025-26 short course season that saw him improve significantly across the majority of his primary events. He entered the season with personal bests of 1:42.21 in the 200 free, 4:34.58 in the 500 free, and 1:53.88 in the 200 fly, and ended it with times of 1:39.28, 4:26.16, and 1:50.51, respectively. Though he did not swim it this season, he also holds a 1650 free personal best of 15:54.45 from March 2025.
Vazirani clocked all of his personal bests at various club meets throughout the season. He clocked his 200 fly PB at the NE CRA August End of Season Invite in August, his 200 free best at the NE CRA Winter Invitational in December, and his 500 free time at Speedo Sectionals – Ithaca in late March. At Sectionals, in his second year qualifying for the meet, Vazirani made his first A-final appearances and secured bronze in both the 500 and 1000 free, while also placing 10th in the 200 free and 200 fly.

Vazirani’s current lifetime bests would have won the 500 free and placed 10th in the 200 free, 10th in the 1650, and 11th in the 200 fly at last year’s conference championships, setting him up as an immediate contributor with two full seasons of training still ahead before his first conference meet.
Vazirani joins Dylan Stewart and Ben Franks in committing to Georgetown’s class of 2031 so far.
