Police are investigating after a man was caught on camera lighting an explosive device outside a Chicago alderman’s home early Saturday.
Around 12:45 a.m., an explosion occurred near West 21st Street and South Damen Avenue outside the home of 25th Ward Alderman Byron Sigcho Lopez’s house in the city’s Heart of Chicago neighborhood, according to a statement from his office.
Ald. Sigcho Lopez’s three kids were inside sleeping when the explosion went off, his office said. No one was hurt but a window was broken.
Surveillance video provided by the 25th Ward Office shows two men pull up in an SUV before one gets out and ignites the explosive before getting into the SUV again and driving away as it went off.
