Michael Vaughan claims Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s India call-up for England tour is confirmed

Youngster Vaibhav Sooryavanshi played a blinder of an innings for the Rajasthan Royals in his opening game of the IPL. The English great has hence asked to fast-track his entry into the Indian team for the upcoming white-ball tour to England.

The 15-year-old cricketer from the Rajasthan Royals team has had the best 12 months in international cricket. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi gained the limelight following a smashing 35-ball century in the history of the IPL. He has scored centuries in Australia, England and South Africa and led India to the U19 World Cup title with a smashing 175 runs in the final.

However, a massive doubt over Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's antics in the second season of the IPL was prevalent as they felt that teams could find him out. However, he proved everyone wrong in the IPL opener as he scored a quickfire 15-ball half-century against CSK.

Former English skipper Michael Vaughan wants Indian youngster Vaibhav Sooryavanshi fast-tracked into the Senior Indian Men's team. These comments came after the youngster's 17-ball 52-run innings.

It has been a stunning 12-months for the Rajasthan Royals superstar, and Vaughan's demand doesn't seem unfair in any aspect of the game. Vaughan believes that he should be named in the squad for the upcoming tour to England.

“When will he make his Indian debut? And I'm just looking, and I know we're probably getting ahead of ourselves. It's only the first innings of the IPL, but there's a white-ball tour to England in a few months' time. And if I were in Indian cricket, I would get him on that tour," Vaughan said on Cricbuzz.

“I'd be giving him a little bit of experience with that Indian team." - Michael Vaughan

The former England skipper also added that the youngster might not get the immediate opportunity to be drafted into the Indian team. He then went on to add that if he plays one or two games, it would be fantastic; however, if not, then he would be subjected to the great experience.

"Not necessarily; he's going to get into players that are in the team at the moment, but the one thing that he's going to need is he's going to need to be brought into the Indian team and the kind of surroundings of what Indian cricket is. Just bring him in, and if he plays one or two games, fantastic, but get him on a tour. Is he allowed to go on tours as a 15-year-old?” Vaughan added.

“I'd be giving him a little bit of experience with that Indian team. Not necessarily, as I said, jumping straight into the side, but just having him around. He's good enough to play. I do not doubt that,” he added.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi outshone Yashasvi Jaiswal against CSK

In the opening partnership for the Rajasthan Royals and the Chennai Super Kings, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made the main contribution with his half-century in the 75-run opening stand. Vaughan reflected that Sooryavanshi absolutely outshone the Indian star with his range of shots.

“When you think he's batting with someone at the other end, whom I have in the last few years, he's right up there with the best, in terms of all-format players. Yashasvi Jaiswal, I think he's a wonderful player.

"And I'm not saying he made Jaiswal look mediocre tonight, but there was a gulf in kind of fearlessness. You could see Jaiswal looking at the ball, just trying to play. This kid's just looking at the ball to launch it into the stands. He just has remarkable freedom,” said Vaughan.

While Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's innings was blistering at a strike rate over 300, Yashasvi Jaiswal finished unbeaten on 38 off 36 balls and ensured a win for the Royals. Following the end of the game, Sooryavanshi revealed that it was Jasiwal who asked him to go for sixes without any fear or dilemma.

“The two innings were a contrast. You had Sooryavanshi, who just went pure modern sixes. And I respected Jaiswal, because I don't think he was seeing it as well as he could see it. So he didn't just give it away. His strike rate wasn't huge, but he's had a little bit of time in the middle,” he added.
