AnnaLee Protasiewicz will be sticking close to home next season, as the sprint free and breast specialist has announced her verbal commitment to swim for Lock Haven University in Pennsylvania beginning in the fall of 2026.
“It is with tremendous excitement and gratitude that I am honored to announce my verbal commitment to Lock Haven University to continue my academic and athletic journey at the Division II level. This journey has been amazing, and I’m so grateful for the incredible support I’ve received along the way. A Pennsylvania native, Protasiewicz is a senior at Wallenpaupack Area High School in Hawley, where she has been a member of the school’s varsity swimming and diving team since her sophomore year. She also currently trains year-round with Pocono Family YMCA.
Protasiewicz has made significant strides in several of her events this season. At the Charlie Hartley Memorial Silver Championship 2026 in February, she won the 400 IM in 5:49.90 and placed 3rd in the 200 breast in 2:54.01, dropping over 20 seconds. She also logged a new personal best in the 100 fly, posting a time of 1:21.02 on the opening 100 of her 400 IM and knocking almost two seconds off her lifetime best.
At the 2026 PIAA (Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association) District II AA Swim & Dive Championships, Protasiewicz logged a personal best performance in the 50 free. She placed 4th in 26.53, shaving .62 off of her time. A few weeks later, she turned in a strong performance in the 100 free at the 2026 YMCA Central District Championships, posting a lifetime best time of 59.12 to mark her first time breaking the 1:00 barrier.
Protasiewicz holds a handful of lifetime bests from the 2025 MWDA & WSSC Sink or Swim competition, which saw her place 16th in the 100 breast (1:29.19) and 21st in the 200 free (2:24.22).

50 free – 26.53 100 free – 59.12 200 free – 2:24.22 100 breast – 1:29.19 200 breast – 2:54.01A Division II program, Lock Haven competes in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, with the women’s team placing 12th out of 13 teams at the 2026 PSAC Championships a few weeks ago. To earn a second swim at this season’s conference championship, it took times of 24.54/54.37/1:58.02 in the 50/100/200 free and 1:09.07/2:31.68 in the 100/200 breast, putting Protasiewicz outside the cutoff in each of her top events.
On the team itself, Protasiewicz would have ranked 4th in the 50 free, 5th in the 200 breast, 7th in the 100 free and 100 breast and 9th in the 200 free this season, setting her up to bring added depth to the Bald Eagles next season.
Joining Protasiewicz in the pool in the fall will be Hannah Turner, Kate Jaskiewicz, Elsa Lucas and Isabelle Weaver, who should all make for strong training partners over the next four years.
