The Pakistan National Cricket Team has once again been dragged into a fresh controversy after shocking claims came out about how a young player was treated inside the system. Ahmed Shehzad has revealed disturbing details about the former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq.
His revelations raised serious questions about how decisions are taken in Pakistan’s cricket structure. He made the sensational claims after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the squad for the Bangladesh tour.
During a discussion on Geo News, Shehzad spoke about wicketkeeper-batter Haseebullah Khan and claimed that the youngster has been badly ignored despite performing strongly. He noted that Haseebullah had built an impressive record in domestic cricket and even delivered solid performances for Pakistan Shaheens, but he still is not getting his chances at the top level.

Shehzad revealed that things turned worse after Haseebullah asked questions about why he was not getting opportunities, and this upset Misbah-ul-Haq, so he spent the entire season on the bench.
It was reportedly said that the squad was decided by a group that included director of domestic cricket, Khurram Niazi, chief selector Aqib Javed, coach Mike Hesson, and advisor Misbah-ul-Haq.
Ahmed Shehzad said on Geo News: “Haseebullah Khan was the next choice for wicketkeeping. Where is he? Despite performing in every match, he kept getting ignored and was even benched in domestic cricket. So, he asked the coach about it. I believe he questioned Misbah-ul-Haq, and that hurt his ego. Maybe he felt offended, thinking, How could someone question him? After that, the player was benched for the entire season.”
Misbah-ul-Haq even stopped the young player's salary!!
Shehzad also claimed that the youngster’s payment had also been stopped for several months, creating serious concern about how players are being treated in the system.
He continued, “Misbah-ul-Haq even stopped his salary. It has been three to four months, and he still has not received his payment. Since when did this start happening, that someone’s salary can simply be stopped? Are we not going to be answerable for these things one day?
The matter did not end there. When the team was announced for the Bangladesh tour, and Haseebullah Khan was not selected again, he called Mike Hesson to ask the reason. And Shehzad said that this is completely normal, as if a player is not selected, he will naturally ask what he needs to improve and what more he has to do, and know the reason behind being overlooked.

Shehzad revealed that the young cricketer was informed by the Pakistan head coach that the team was being picked by a group that included the director of domestic cricket Khurram Niazi, Mike Hesson, chief selector Aqib Javed, and Misbah-ul-Haq, who is serving as an advisor.
During the meeting, the former head coach said that Haseebullah had an attitude problem and disciplinary issues behind his axing, and Shehzad slammed the legendary batter for ruining a young player’s career due to his “liking and disliking” on live TV.
He signed off by saying, “Who decides these things alone? What are the criteria to judge someone’s discipline? Decisions like this affect the future of young players. This kind of situation usually happens when selections are not made purely on merit and instead depend on personal likes and dislikes.”
