Former English all-rounder Moeen Ali has been voicing concerns against the ICC and has been accusing them of having double standards ever since the Jay Shah-led international governing body for cricket did not allow Bangladesh to switch venues and snubbed them from participating in the contest.

With politics more often affecting the game of cricket in today's times, the former English all-rounder has asked for a more consistent approach from the international governing body. He recalled an incident from 2014 that took place at the start of his career for England.
When Moeen, during those days, wanted to wear a wristband supporting Gaza, it was deemed to breach the ICC regulations prohibiting messages related to political causes. He then further brought the Bangladesh issue under the same cause and tried to explain the unjust snubbing of the team.
"The problem is they [ICC] pick and choose. It’s a double standard. If you are not to make political statements, then it’s got to be every statement. The ECB were fine with my wristband, it was ICC [who weren’t], even though I felt it was in support of a humanitarian cause."
"ICC needs to be more clear. The whole Bangladesh thing. It’s one rule for one, one rule for another," Moeen Ali said in an interview with The Sunday Times.

The off-spinner then shed light on another major racist controversy that has been surrounding the ECB and several County Cricket Clubs under the ECB. He has said these in response to the previous allegations of Azeem Rafiq against the Yorkshire club.
He has volunteered by himself to be part of the ECB, where he could provide a voice for English cricketers belonging to the South Asian community, since they are often subjected to racism of one kind or another. “As long as it is not box-ticking,” he added.
“It’s got to mean something. We talk about cricket being for everyone. Saying it is different from doing it.” Ali believes that during his time in Yorkshire, he could come in handy to build bridges between the Asian population and the ECB.

Moeen Ali, one of the greatest spin-bowling all-rounders from England, made his debut for the nation back in 2014. He played for almost a decade for England, which could be said to be the finest era of English cricket, where they broke their trophy jinx in ICC tournaments.
Known as a polished spinner and a reliable batter in the lower order, Moeen Ali made 68 appearances in Test cricket, 138 in ODIs, and 92 in the shortest format of the game. He had amassed 3094, 2355 and 1229 runs in the three formats, respectively. He also picked 204, 111 and 51 wickets, respectively, across the three formats.
The former all-rounder was part of the English side during the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 and the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. He was also a part of the Eoin Morgan-led side that finished as the runners-up of the ICC T20 World Cup 2016.
