Texas has put the finishing touches on a 2026 high school recruiting class ranked No. 3 in the country. The Longhorns’ 2027 class, which is off to a good start, has now added its latest commitment.
Ty Knutson, an in-state quarterback from Spring Branch, about 45 minutes north of San Antonio, has pledged to the Longhorns. Knutson revealed the news to On3’s Hayes Fawcett on Saturday.
Knutson currently has offers from Houston, North Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, and TCU, among others. But Texas didn’t officially extend an offer of its own until January 17 at one of its Junior Days. That was after he had taken several unofficial visits to the campus beforehand, including for the Vanderbilt and Arkansas games in November.
Knutson’s finalists eventually emerged as Oklahoma State and South Carolina. In the end, though, the Longhorns won out.
Knutson becomes the sixth player of the 2027 recruiting class to commit to Texas. So far, the class is led by four-star New Orleans wide receiver Easton Royal, the nation’s No. 24 overall player. According to 247Sports, the Longhorns’ 2027 class currently ranks No. 10.
