It’s still January, we’re a ways out from the combine, partway through the Senior Bowl, and we’re still sorting plenty out. Which means in this mock draft I can get as weird as I want to as I try to lay out how the draft may go in April. Hell, we still don’t technically have the entire draft order solidified yet (not just the Super Bowl, but also the handing out of compensatory picks in March as well).
I wanted to start to slide another quarterback in eventually. Thin classes make teams behave poorly when it comes to reaching, especially when there are multiple spots with a high need for a young, new signal caller.
No trades yet (I’m not a real big fan of trying to predict trades in a mock, but I will sprinkle some in just to see how things could play out), and maybe a little less of a lean on team needs to start. High-end skill position players are tough to sort out, as there is some conventional wisdom on waiting a bit and taking more of a team need, but as with any of the young men that will walk across the stage in April: it just takes one team to like ’em.
