Nearly twenty years after his last extended run in Albert Square, actor Joel Beckett is set to reprise his fan-favorite role as Jake Moon on the BBC soap opera EastEnders.
The news was confirmed via EastEnders’ official social media accounts, which announced that Beckett will appear on screen in February for what is being described as a “short stint.”
According to the show’s official teaser, Jake returns looking for answers about what really happened at Christmas, but learns a conflicting version of events that leads him to question the woman he loves.
The storyline description suggest Jake will be forced to weigh difficult truths as multiple accounts of the Christmas events come to light.
Speaking about his return, Beckett said, “It was really lovely to step back onto the Square after all this time and revisit Jake. Being back working alongside familiar faces, as well as some brilliant new ones, was a real joy and it was good to know that Jake had been out there, alive and well.”
He added that viewers can expect plenty of twist ahead, “He returns carrying plenty of unanswered questions and the storyline takes him in some unexpected directions with real twists and turns. I’m excited for people to see what he’s been up to.”

Beckett originally appeared on the soap opera from 2004 to 2006 as Jake Moon, the cousin of Alfie Moon (Shane Richie). During his exit storyline, viewers were left unsure whether Jake survived after being confronted by strangers who asked if he was Jake Moon. He later made a brief one-episode return on September 12, 2024, tied to Chrissie Watts’ (Tracy-Ann Oberman) release from prison, and the character was confirmed to be alive.
