Saturday, January 24th, 2026 Princeton, NJ Dual Meet Format SCY Full Results Scores Women: Princeton 196, Penn State 98 Men: Princeton 203, Men 97The Penn State Nittany Lions headed east over the weekend to take on the Princeton Tigers. The meet was originally supposed to include the Virginia Tech Hokies, but VT was unable to make the trip due to the threat of inclement weather.
The Tigers celebrated their seniors at their last home meet, and then took care of business, with the women winning 196-98 and the men winning 203-97. Both Princeton squads remain undefeated in dual meet competition as the calendar turns to February.
Women’s Recap
Princeton set the tone early by winning the 200 medley relay in 1:38.71 behind Delaney Herr (25.19), Heidi Smithwick (28.35 breast split), Sabrina Johnston (23.54 fly split), and Sophia Sunwoo (21.63 free split). The Tigers came within a whisker of their season best time of 1:38.43 from the Big Al Invitational at midseason.
Eleanor Sun picked up Princeton’s first individual win in the 200 free with a 1:47.21. Johnston followed with a 52.83 win in the 100 back, leading a Tiger sweep of the top three spots, and then later did the same in the 100 free (49.12). Eliza Brown handled both breaststroke events, winning the 100 in 1:02.27 and the 200 in 2:14.58, while Smithwick took the 200 fly in 1:57.25.
In the sprint freestyle events, Sunwoo led the 50 free field with a 22.53, and Princeton continued to roll in the back half of the meet as Grace Black won the 200 back in 1:58.86. Chloe Kim closed out Princeton’s individual wins by taking the 500 free in 4:48.09 after finishing second earlier in the 1000. Charlotte Martinkus won the 1m diving event with a 309.15.
Princeton also won the 400 free relay in 3:17.61 with strong splits across the board. Sabrina Johnston opened in 48.90 to put the Tigers out front early. Freshman Sophia Sunwoo followed with a 48.72 on the second leg, followed by Heidi Smithwick (50.49). On the anchor, Veronique Rossouw closed it out in 49.50 to secure the victory.
Penn State’s top swim on the women’s side came early in the 1000 free, where Morgan Moore touched first in 9:47.90, holding off Kim by just over two-tenths. Grace Brammer secured the Nittany Lions’ second victory of the day with a score of 319.13 on the 3m board. Their 200 medley relay took 2nd in 1:40.02, a little over a second off of the Nittany Lions’ season-best time from midseason.
Men’s Recap
Princeton opened the men’s meet with a narrow win in the 200 medley relay, touching in 1:25.23. Yanning Zhang led off in 21.80, Keian Lam split 24.27 on breaststroke, Logan Noguchi added a 20.23 fly leg, and Patrick Dinu anchored in 18.93 to hold off Penn State by two-tenths.
The Tigers extended their lead quickly, as Jiarui Xue won the 1000 free in 9:03.13, just ahead of teammate Connor Buck. Dinu followed with a win in the 200 free (1:35.16) and later doubled back to take the 100 free in 42.25.
Noguchi added another sprint win in the 50 free at 19.53, while Mitchell Schott took a pair of victories in the 200 fly (1:42.99) and the 500 free (4:20.32). Aidan Wang swept the diving events, winning the 1m with a score of 333.98 and the 3m with a score of 381.75.
Princeton closed out the day by winning the 400 free relay in 2:53.13. Logan Noguchi led off in 44.36, Daniel Li kept them in front with a 43.78 on the second leg, and Jake Tarara followed with a 43.15. Patrick Dinu put the race away, ripping a field-best 41.84 anchor to seal the victory.
Penn State, who we ranked #25 in our most recent round of power rankings, finished over 100 points behind Princeton despite a pair of doubles. Mariano Lazzerini continued to demonstrate he’s capable of swimming fast year-round, sweeping the 100 breast (51.24) and 200 breast (1:53.60), not far off his bests of 50.96 and 1:50.93 from midseason. Both those times rank in the top eight nationally this season. Cooper Morley swept both backstroke races, winning the 100 in 46.60 and the 200 in 1:43.97.
