Carson Beck never reached the College Football Playoff National Championship with the Georgia Bulldogs. His 2023 team was left out of the CFP altogether following an SEC title game loss.
Then, last year, he missed Georgia’s CFP action due to injury. One year later, though, he is on the precipice of a championship as the Miami Hurricanes’ signal-caller.
Beck has never been the most appreciated passer in his collegiate career. But for the most part, he has won games and played effective, efficient football. It’s for those reasons that ESPN’s Chris Fowler believes Beck’s accomplishments have not garnered the attention they deserve.
“I don’t know why his career has been undervalued,” Fowler said on Get Up. “He comes into the Georgia program, on the heels of their greatest era. And he’s not Stetson Bennett, and he’s not gonna win a championship as a starter… people were so down on him. But you look at his career… he’s 16-3 now against top-25 opposition. He [has] been a big-game quarterback… I think his pedigree is pretty good.”
Fowler thinks Beck’s game-winning drive versus Ole Miss, where he made multiple “precise 3rd-down throws,” was “Carson Beck at his best.”
The Hurricanes will need that version of Beck on Monday night when they battle the Indiana Hoosiers for college football’s ultimate supremacy. Kickoff between Miami and Indiana is set for 7:30 p.m. E.T. (ESPN).
