2 Seeded Audrey Derivaux Scratches 200 Back Final At Speedo Winter Juniors – East ...Middle East

2025 SPEEDO WINTER JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS – EAST

Audrey Derivaux, one of the biggest stars of this year’s Speedo Winter Junior Championships, has scratched the 200 back for the meet’s last night of finals. She will swim the 200 butterfly, an event in which she’s the top seed.

The 200 back and 200 fly is a brutal double, and unfortunately for the 16-year-old Derivaux, two of her best events fall in the same session. The Texas commit has the top time in both events for the high school class of 2027. She chose to go all-in on the butterfly race, in which she cruised to a 1:55.40 top seed. This falls a couple seconds short of her 1:52.78 lifetime best from March of this year. A new lifetime best is certainly on the radar tonight, given her performance thus far.

Derivaux swam 1:52.54 in the 200 back this morning, about a second and a half behind top seed Charlotte Crush for the second spot. Crush now becomes an even heavier favorite tonight. Her lifetime best lies at five seconds ahead of the rest of the field.

Beyond Derivaux, no other A-finalists scratched their races. There were, however, a number of consolation and bonus final scratches. Some of these scratches were made to hone in on one event, such as 100 free A-finalist Austin Carpenter renouncing his 200 breast spot. Other scratches, including Elizabeth Eichbrecht, mean a meet ended early. See the full scratch report below:
