Giddey Gives Back, Miller Impresses, Dan Hurley’s Rotation Request, and Other Bulls Bullets

No Bulls preseason game tonight, but there’s still plenty of Bulls basketball to talk about.

A mixed bag of preseason results has left Bulls media and, apparently, some very accomplished college coaches eager to pitch in their two cents on what they want to see from Chicago. On the flip side, we’ve also got some fun Josh Giddey content, breaking down film and giving back to the Windy City.

    Let’s talk Bulls basketball.

Longtime Bulls writer Sam Smith was really impressed with what he saw from Leonard Miller, calling him the potential saving grace of the Ayo Dosunmu trade. Smith wrote:

“It may have helped the Bulls discover Miller, who has been a disappearing mystery most of his young basketball life. The Ontario native was a going nowhere 6-2 guard in high school not attracting much attention… By then he was eligible for the NBA. He chose the G League Ignite the year before current teammate Buzelis, and then was a second round Spurs draft pick in 2023 and quickly traded to Minnesota. Where he rarely played until packaged in the Dosunmu deal with multiple second round draft picks. The draft picks were supposed to be the prize. Leonard Miller may be the surprise.”

And Smith isn’t the only one who’s been impressed with Miller since he arrived in Chicago. Nobody really knew what to expect from him, and he’s blown those expectations out of the water. He’s consistently provided double-digit scoring for the Bulls, both last season and this preseason. Sunday’s game marked Miller’s third consecutive double-digit scoring performance after he finished in double figures in 17 of his final 18 games last season.

How good IS Leonard Miller? He's quietly logging an impressive preseason, with averages of 17.3 PPG on .656/.545/.667 shooting, 6.3 RPG, 2.0 APG, and 1.0 SPG in just 19.7 MPG off the bench.Last night's performance against Denver was his best yet: t.co/eUjRZ4iNOy pic.twitter.com/7uZPs7S1BN

    — Bleacher Nation Bulls (@BN_Bulls) October 12, 2026 But more than the scoring, it’s the 22-year-old’s aggressiveness and willingness to get involved in plays, even when he doesn’t have the ball, that stands out. He crashes the offensive glass, makes cuts, and finds ways to get himself into the right spots for easy buckets. Miller plays like a second-round pick with a chip on his shoulder, even after he’s started to prove he belongs. And honestly, I love that.

Every time you watch Leonard Miller you think, “my god this guy could be a monster” but then he never quite cracks the rotation…This may be the year of Leonard Miller in Chicago. pic.twitter.com/zUdL8PfX3J

    — Basketball University (@UofBasketball) October 12, 2026 Also coming out of the Nuggets game was Jordan Hawkins’ first taste of preseason action with the Bulls. He finished with 10 minutes played and knocked down a couple of threes. That’s exactly what Chicago brought him in for, and so far, so good. Someone who was really hyped about Hawkins’ performance was his former college head coach, Dan Hurley, who reshared the highlights with the caption, “Free Hawk.” For context, Hurley’s previous tweet was about Hawkins finally being freed from the depths of New Orleans. Looks like Coach Hurley is pretty happy to see his former player getting a fresh start in Chicago!

    — Dan Hurley (@dhurley15) October 12, 2026 And finally, coming out of the Nuggets game was a great moment between Nikola Jokic and Caleb Wilson. After the game, the two big men shared a hug, and the NBA posted a video of Caleb at the 2026 Draft Combine talking about how much he admires Jokic’s game. It’s a really cool moment, and it makes you understand why Caleb is working on his passing chops. He’s looking to become a bit of a Swiss Army knife on the court, much like the three-time MVP himself. Nothing wrong with learning from one of the best!

    — NBA (@NBA) October 12, 2026 Outside of the action on the floor, Josh Giddey is giving back to the Windy City in a really fun way. The Josh Giddey Family Foundation and the Chicago Bulls unveiled a new and renovated game room for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House at Lurie Children’s Hospital.

“It’s a colorful game room with a lot of Chicago Bulls and Australia-themed activities,” said Giddey. “It means the world to me. The idea was to make it a colorful, bright space, really inclusive for everybody, and that’s kind of how it turned out, and it was exactly how we had envisioned it.”

Giddey came to Chicago in the Alex Caruso trade and has really flourished since joining the Bulls. The city has shown him plenty of love for the triple-doubles and the dimes he’s been dishing out, and Josh is clearly showing that love right back. It’s always nice to see a player embrace the city like this and find ways to give back beyond basketball.

    — Bulls Community (@bullscommunity) October 12, 2026 Another way Giddey is giving back is by sharing his basketball IQ on his YouTube channel. Yesterday, he broke down his performances for the Australian national team at the Paris Olympics. He’s already got four videos up on the channel, and the reception has been great. We know how much better this content is going to get when Giddey puts together a big breakout season with the Bulls this year.
