Damascus,12. Dec (SANA) Mohammad al Bakour, Head of the Syrian Economists Syndicate, stressed the importance of the U.S. House of Representatives’ vote to repeal the “Caesar Act,” noting that it will help reposition the Syrian economy on sound foundations that directly improve citizens’ lives and strengthen Syria’s economic presence regionally and internationally.
Al Bakour explained to SANA that the repeal will contribute to improving the exchange rate and increasing investment inflows, enabling the import of modern production lines and advanced technologies that were previously restricted. This, he said, will support factory operations, enhance technical, agricultural, and industrial services, raise employment levels, improve wages, and stimulate economic activity, paving the way for the reconstruction phase.
He added that the decision opens the door for businessmen to launch new projects requiring a large workforce, which will improve income levels and living conditions. It will also positively affect import costs, leading to lower prices for many goods and services in the market.
