ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester’s newest homeless shelter celebrated its first-ever Thanksgiving lunch on Thursday, while honoring the legacy of the late Sister Grace Miller.
The Sister Grace’s Men’s Homeless Shelter on 210 West Main St. gave meals to people in need. The shelter opened in October and has provided food and shelter to 25 to 30 men each night.
Sister Grace, who decidated her life to serving Rochester’s homeless community, died earlier this month at age 90. She started the House of Mercy shelter 40 years ago and has often been compared to Rochester’s Mother Teresa.
The funeral liturgy for Sister Grace will be held on Saturday, Nov. 29 starting at 10 a.m. You can livestream it here.
