Actress Jaclyn Smith became a TV icon decades ago thanks to her role in the original Charlie’s Angels TV movie and series. But these days, she’s celebrating a much more personal honor, as her 2026 memoir, I Once Knew a Guy Named Charlie, officially became a New York Times bestseller.
The exciting milestone happened only days after the book’s release at the start of September, but Smith recently took a moment out of her busy book promotion schedule to address fans and celebrate the accomplishment with them.
“I’m so grateful for all of you out there who made my book I Once Knew a Guy Named Charlie number nine on the New York Times bestseller list. I can’t believe it,” she said in the new video.

He wrote to Smith, “What impressed me most was the vivid illustrations of your upbringing and the unparalleled foundational love for your parents, sibling and grandfather.”
The fan noted that he really related to her story of losing her parents, having lost his own in the 2000s, and he added, “The words on the pages touched my heart.” Smith thanked him and encouraged fans watching the video to also share their thoughts about her memoir with her.

I Once Knew a Guy Named Charlie was officially released on Sept. 8, 2026, and Smith recently completed the accompanying book tour, which saw her meet fans in several different states across the U.S.
