Southern California’s Minna Abraham posted a a time of 1:40.47 to rocket up to first in the NCAA this season and become the 7th fastest performer of all time in the 200 free. She dominated the race from start to finish, splitting 49.03/51.44 to shave 0.09 seconds off of her previous best time of 1:40.56, which she set at the 2025 NCAA Championships when she placed 2nd behind Anna Peplowski.
Had she swam this time however, she would have won the event ahead of Peplowski by 0.03 seconds. The junior is coming off a successful summer, where she was the U23 European Champion in the 200 free (1:56.03) and bronze medalist in the 100 (54.36) and 400 free (4:09.56). She also helped her home nation of Hungary to an 8th place finish at the World Championships in Singapore, leading off the 400 free relay in a personal best time of 53.97.
Abraham’s progression and strength in the 200 free has been evident, as she also competed at the World Cup stop in Westmont in October, taking 6th in the with a personal best time of 1:53.15.
