Friday, November 7th – Wednesday, November 12th Kazan, Russia SCM (25m) Live ResultsThe penultimate night of racing took place at the 2025 Russian Short Course Nationals, with 20-year-old Daria Klepikova pulling the mild upset in the women’s 100m butterfly.
In a head-to-head battle with 27-year-old national record holder Arina Surkova, Klepikova wound up on top, hitting a time of 56.20 to grab the gold.
Surkova settled for silver in 56.38 as the only other competitor to delve under the 57-second barrier. Polina Malakhova rounded out the podium in 57.24.
As for Klepikova, her 56.20 outing represented a near-lifetime best, falling just .08 outside her PB of 56.12 notched in the semi-finals of the 1fly at last year’s Short Course World Championships.
Surkova owns the Russian benchmark with her career-swiftest time of 55.63 produced last year.
Klepikova now ranks 5th in the world on the season.

Entering this competition, Vekovishchev’s PB rested at the 49.53, which garnered the 27-year-old silver at the 2019 European Short Course Championships. His effort this evening keeps him ranked #2 among all-time Russians, sitting only behind national record holder Evgenii Korotyshkin‘s time of 48.48 from the 2009 World Cup.
Roman Shevliakov was next to the wall in the 1fly final, posting 49.93 as Daniil Markov bagged the bronze in 50.27.
Vekovishchev ranks 5th in the world at the moment.

That held a healthy advantage over Eduard Valiakhmetov who touched nearly 3 seconds back in 4:07.77 followed by Sergey Isaev who collected the bronze in 4:09.03.
25-year-old Olympian Stupin’s performance was just off his best-ever, a time of 4:04.38 produced at the 2021 Short Course European Championships.

Irina Zyvagintseva was too quick to catch in the women’s 400m IM final, turning in a time of 4:33.41 to earn the gold medal. Viktoria Blinova hit 4:36.51 as the silver medalist and Anna Rzaeva touched in 4:37.47 for bronze. A battle is brewing in the women’s 50m breaststroke, with a trio of women vying for the gold in the final night’s medal-contending race. In the semi-finals, Ralina Gilyazova secured the top seed in 29.74 to hold off Olympic medalist Yuliya Efimova‘s effort of 29.90. The LCM 200 breaststroke world record holder Evgenia Chikunova is in the mix as well, holding the 3rd seed in 30.20. On-fire Egor Kornev already ripped a monster 44.99 time in the men’s 100m free and the 21-year-old looks to be on track for something special in the 50m.
