First Alert Weather: Frost warning in effect for tonight

ROCHESTER. N.Y. – As skies clear this evening, we have all the ingredients for a frosty, cold night for Western New York.  Most folks will find the temperature falling into the lower 30s with some communities dropping into the upper 20s south of Rochester.  As a result, the National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for later tonight and early Monday morning.  A freeze warning is issued when the first below freezing temperature is expected.  Temperatures at or below freezing will kill any sensitive vegetation and will effectively end the growing season.

A large high-pressure system will keep a dry and rather chilly airmass in place through midweek. On the positive side, we should find some sunshine continuing. But on the negative side, unseasonably cool temperatures will also continue. Then a strong low-pressure system will be developing in the Midwest for the second half of the week.  This will likely spread rain back into Western New York by Thursday and Friday.  This will likely ensure some wet weather for Halloween evening on Friday.
