Nikki Sixx and Mick Mars Helped Make Mötley Crüe a Rock Powerhouse; Now, Sixx Reveals What Hurt Most About Their Bitter Feud

Nikki Sixx is speaking out again about his falling-out with former Mötley Crüe bandmate Mick Mars, pushing back against claims that have followed the band since their bitter legal dispute.

In a since-deleted post on X, Sixx denied claims that other musicians have played bass on Mötley Crüe recordings or that he uses pre-recorded tracks at concerts, according to Consequence.

Those claims gained attention after Mars accused Sixx of not playing during the band’s 2022 Stadium Tour. In his lawsuit against Mötley Crüe, the guitarist alleged that Sixx “did not play a single note” during the shows.

Sixx rejected that accusation, insisting he has played a major role in the band’s music throughout his career. “I’ve played bass on every album Motley Crue has ever recorded and written the lion’s share of our music over the years,” he wrote.

He also addressed the fallout from Mars’ public comments, arguing that they left fans with the wrong impression of the band.

“When Mick made statements about the band that we believe were untrue, in an attempt to gain leverage in a lawsuit he ultimately lost, it created a lot of confusion and fueled some negative perceptions of the band,” Sixx said.

The bassist went on to reflect on his long history with Mars, saying the guitarist’s departure and the legal battle were especially painful because of their decades together. “The saddest part is that we genuinely loved Mick,” Sixx continued.

“During his struggles with addiction, I personally did everything I could to help him and, at times, save his life. We shared decades of music, memories, and brotherhood. That history means something to us.”

Sixx said the legal battle wasn’t what bothered him most. Instead, he was hurt by the way things unraveled between the former bandmates.

“What hurts the most isn’t the lawsuit or the headlines,” he wrote. “It’s the feeling that someone we considered a brother turned his back on us and, in the process, misled the fans who supported all of us for so many years.”
