Police in the south suburbs are looking for a man wanted for questioning in connection to allegations of criminal sexual misconduct at UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey.
The initial investigation began last summer when police said the first victim reported the alleged crime.
A Harvey police spokesperson told NBC Chicago there are three alleged victims, all adults.
Two of the victims were patients who went to the emergency room for treatment. Both detailed similar allegations involving a man who identified himself as a physician assistant, officials said.
According to Harvey police, the first report was filed in June of 2024. The victim in that case told investigators the physician assistant made explicit sexual comments and pressed himself against her during her exam. She reported the incident the same night to hospital staff and police.
The following month, police said another woman came forward saying she too was a victim. She told investigators she was drugged and touched inappropriately last May by the same man.
A police spokesperson said a third victim is a hospital employee.
“Ingalls memorial is aware of the ongoing investigation by the Harvey police department. Due to the active nature of the investigation, we are unable to provide comment at this time and will continue to cooperate with Harvey police,” UChicago Medicine said in a statement to NBC Chicago.
Police said a hospital staff member is considered a person of interest and no charges have been filed.
Police believe there could be more victims at other medical facilities in Orland Park and Tinley Park.
Authorities are urging victims and anyone with information to come forward by calling the Harvey Police Department’s Detective Division at 708-331-3030 EXT 221 or submitting an anonymous tip at 708-713-4899 or through email at [email protected].
