Mrs. Carol Satterield age 78, a homemaker of South Carthage, entered eternal rest surrounded by her family at 10:54 a.m. Saturday morning October 11, 2025 at the Quality Center for Rehabilitation and Healing in Lebanon.
Mrs. Satterfield is at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home and will be cremated at the Cumberland Family Services in Algood. The family will conduct a private memorial service to Celebrate her Life.
She was one of three daughters of the late World War II Army Veteran Odie Roy “Bouncer” Burton who died March 6, 1995 at the age of 73 and Jeannie Marie Pittman Burton who died November 12, 2007 at the age of 76 and was born Carolyn Sue Burton in Columbia in Adair County, Kentucky on Valentines Day February 14, 1947.
She was preceded in death by her husband of almost forty-two years, South Carthage native Joe Rutland “Joe Joe” Satterfield, who died at the age of 70 on October 5, 2010 and by her sister, Odean Marie Burton Franklin who died at the age of 68 on June 28, 2022.
They were preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ashlee Renee Hancock.
Surviving are four daughters, Tammy Lee Satterield Hancock of South Carthage, Brenda Sue Satterfield Long and husband South Carthage Police Chief David Long of the Elmwood Community, Joe Ann Satterfield Silcox and husband Boyd of Carthage, and Tommie Lee Satterield Brown and husband Nate of the Rome Community; two sisters, Evelyn Ann Burton Murphy of Columbia, Kentucky; thirteen grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren.
