Even Netflix is celebrating the return of a new NBA season!
The streaming company officially released the trailer for its second season of the hit documentary series “Starting 5.” The first season grabbed the attention of basketball lovers everywhere by following LeBron James, Anthony Edwards, Jimmy Butler, Jayson Tatum, and Domantas Sabonis for a full season. All things considered, that felt like an extremely tough cast of characters to top … but it looks like Netflix found a way!

Not only did Starting 5 luck into following Shai Gilgeous-Alexander during his MVP and championship season, but the series also stars one of his stiffest competitors, Tyrese Haliburton. The two guards led their teams to the NBA Finals in dramatic fashion, pushing things all the way to a Game 7. As if following that in real-time wasn’t fun enough, we will now get a full behind-the-scenes look at everything that went into making the memorable series possible.
Of course, this will include Tyrese Haliburton’s injury saga, which unfortunately ended with a torn Achilles tendon in the final game of the series. The Pacers’ star had a tremendous postseason run in the lead-up to the injury, and many of those moments made an appearance in the documentary’s new trailer, as well. Remember his clutch buzzer-beater against the Knicks? Yup, we’ll get an even better look at that. How about his dad getting suspended for confronting Giannis Antetokounmpo? We see the moment Haliburton found out in the locker room.
While Haliburton and SGA are bound to steal the show, the three remaining featured players are sure to have some must-see moments. Fans will have an inside look at Kevin Durant’s final year in Phoenix, Jaylen Brown’s attempt to repeat with the Celtics, and James Harden’s All-Star campaign with a revamped Clippers squad.
From Harden getting pulled over to Brown finding out about the Luka Doncic trade, the trailer tees up some seriously incredible moments. I highly encourage you to give it a watch and then set a reminder for its airdate on Oct. 16! The NBA season will then tip off five short days later!
