As you already saw in the lineup, Kyle Tucker is back (calf) and DH’ing today. We just want to see him take it as easy as necessary, get in some game action against live pitching, and then evaluate where he is after the game. Results are not required at the moment.
To open up a roster spot for Tucker, veteran Carlos Santana agreed to be optioned to the minors. A class move, and one that’ll help the Cubs keep everyone else on the roster, and also keep Santana in the organization if he should be needed in the postseason. He’ll head to Arizona to stay ready with a handful of players there currently doing the same thing.
Meanwhile, the status on Cade Horton remains … tentative positivity?
