DENVER — Colorado bankruptcy filings increased 8% in August, compared with the same period a year ago.
The state recorded 766 bankruptcy filings during August, compared with 708 for the same period a year ago. Individual filings totaled 755, up from 690 in August 2024. Year-to-date filings total 5,621, up 9.3% from 5,141 through August 2024. Business filings totaled 11, down from 18 the prior year.
That’s according to a BizWest analysis of U.S. Bankruptcy Court data. Numbers cited include all new filings, including open, closed and dismissed cases.
In the Boulder Valley and Northern Colorado, filings were mixed in Bouder, Broomfield, Larimer and Weld counties.
• Boulder County recorded 22 bankruptcy filings in August, down 21% from 28 the prior year. Boulder County recorded 32 bankruptcy filings in July 2025. Year-to-date filings total 216, up 16.1% from 186 for the same period last year.
• The city and county of Broomfield recorded 13 bankruptcy filings in August, up 8% from 12 the prior year. Broomfield recorded 14 bankruptcy filings in July 2025. Year-to-date filings total 82, up 18.9% from 69 for the same period last year.
• Larimer County filings totaled 42 in August, down 7% from 45 the prior year. Larimer recorded 45 bankruptcy filings in July 2025. Year-to-date filings total 339, up 15.3% from 294 for the same period last year.
• Weld County bankruptcy filings totaled 68 in August, up 24% from 55 a year ago. Weld recorded 71 bankruptcy filings in July 2025. Year-to-date filings total 477, up 10% from 433 for the same period last year.
August filings included:
• Summit Hard Cider and Perry Co. LLC of Fort Collins, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Aug. 13, listing assets of $164,233 and liabilities of $2,663,400. Case No. 25-15079-JGR.
• L.C.C. Inc. of Fort Lupton, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Aug. 15, listing assets of $1,390,491 and liabilities of $5,336,230. Case No. 25-15137-MER.
