A Shortcut Garlic Bread That Actually Works
These simple ingredients created a delicious garlic bread in minutes.Instead of relying on store-bought bread or specialty bread mixes, this recipe uses tortillas as the base. The tortillas crisp up in the air fryer, becoming golden and bubbly with just enough chew to mimic the crustiness of classic garlic bread.
To make it, you'll need tortillas, shredded mozzarella cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder (I used garlic salt at first—do not recommend) and butter or oil. (I recommend butter for richness).
Start by spreading butter evenly over both tortillas, then top each tortilla with a generous sprinkle of shredded mozzarella. Season them with Italian seasoning and garlic powder and stack the tortillas so that the cheese side of the first tortilla faces up, then place the second tortilla on top, also cheese side up.
Air fry for a few minutes until the cheese is bubbly and just starting to turn golden brown. Keep a close eye on it! I left mine in too long the first time and it burned quickly.
The result is a layered, cheesy garlic bread that’s crisp at the edges and is gooey in the middle. And oh so easy!

My Honest Thoughts About This Air Fryer Tortilla Garlic Bread
When you want garlic bread fast, this easy air fryer hack delivers big flavor with zero fuss. This recipe checks all the boxes for great garlic bread. It’s buttery, garlicky, cheesy and aromatic. The tortillas act like thin flatbread, delivering crunch without the heaviness of traditional loaves. The mozzarella melts into a creamy layer that holds everything together, while the Italian seasoning gives those classic hints of oregano and basil you’d expect in a pizzeria-style side.
The garlic powder adds warmth and depth without overpowering the other flavors. Using garlic salt, as I discovered, tips the balance toward too salty, so sticking with plain garlic powder is the way to go. With the butter soaking into the tortillas and crisping them up in the air fryer, you get the perfect texture contrast, with crispy edges and a gooey, melty center.
Beyond the flavor, this recipe is incredibly practical. It takes less than 10 minutes from start to finish and uses pantry staples most of us already have on hand, which is a win!
Also, a note for any of my fellow gluten-free folks. I first tried it with sweet potato tortillas, which gave a slightly sweet flavor, and then with almond tortillas, which offered a more neutral base. Both worked well, but I preferred the almond tortillas.

The Perfect Snack or Side
Golden edges, gooey cheese, and that buttery garlic kick—this is my new favorite side dish. What makes this tortilla garlic bread so smart is how versatile it is. Need a quick after-school snack for kids? It’s fast, filling and fun to pull apart. Want something to round out a weeknight dinner? Pair it with a crisp salad or a big bowl of spaghetti, and you’ve got an instant upgrade. It’s also perfect for dipping, whether it’s marinara sauce, soup or even a little ranch on the side.
It’s also customizable. You can switch up the cheese for sharp cheddar or Parmesan, or add red pepper flakes for a little heat. And it's so easy, you can have your kids help you put it together, or if they're old enough, they can do it all by themselves.
