Bill Belichick suffered humiliation in his college football debut as UNC were destroyed 48-14 on Monday night.
The eight-time Super Bowl champion coach was on the sideline for the first time as his Tar Heels and their revamped roster took on the TCU Horned Frogs at Kenan Memorial Stadium in Chapel Hill.
Despite a bright start, and a touchdown on the first drive, the game quickly got away from UNC and the visitors came out on top by quite some margin.
Up 20-7 by the half, TCU scored another 21 points in the third quarter to drill home their dominance, and Belichick was forced to pull starting quarterback Gio Lopez out of the game amid a spectacular collapse.
The blowout was undoubtedly box-office entertainment, but for all the wrong reasons for Belichick — who has signed a lucrative $10 million contract — and those associated with UNC.
An impressive 50,500 fans and students packed into Kenan Stadium for the home opener, but plenty made for the exits midway through the quarter, having seen enough.
One person who saw the game through to the end, though, was Belichick’s girlfriend Jordon Hudson.
She has been his biggest supporter in recent years, and the couple’s high-profile relationship has made plenty of headlines, given their 48-year age gap.

Hudson, who was savagely roasted by Shane Gillis at the ESPYs in July, was seen in a box during UNC’s opening game.
She soon went viral for a moment she shared with NFL legend Randy Moss, who was also in the suite.
The Hall of fame receiver played college ball at Marshall, but came out to cheer for UNC after spending four seasons of his pro career with Belichick and the New England Patriots.
At one point on Monday night, Moss was seen clapping with the crowd before Hudson, who was also smiling to begin with, turned and offered him a death stare.

While Hudson was turning heads in the stands at Kenan Stadium, Belichick appeared to lose his on the sideline.
The former NFL coach, who boasted an impressive 333-178 record in the NFL, was visibly frustrated as the game unfolded and had a look of disgust on his face as he spoke down his headset.
Footage of the moment was shared by reporter Albert Breer, and fans were quick to joke that a star like Tom Brady wasn’t around to bail the coach out at UNC.
“Tom Brady’s not walking through that door,” one person wrote on X.
“Still find it hilarious Bill said he thinks this is better than coaching in the NFL,” another said.

Despite a blowout loss on his debut, Belichick has plenty of time to turn his Tar Heels team around — but the football world will be watching closely.
“Obviously, we have a lot of work to do. We need to do a better job all around, coaching, playing, all three phases of the game just wasn’t up to what it needs to be,” the coach said post-game.
“I know we’re a lot better than that so we need to work on those things and show it on Saturday.
“Give TCU credit, they came in and did a good job. They were clearly the better team tonight. They deserved to win and they did it decisively.”
UNC next face Charlotte on Saturday night.
