INGLEWOOD — Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford (aggravated disc) had a successful workout Saturday morning and remains on track to return to practice on Monday, head coach Sean McVay said Saturday after the Rams’ 31-21 win in the preseason opener against the Dallas Cowboys.
“He looked good, he threw the ball really well,” McVay said. “There was no limitations in terms of the types of throws; deep, intermediate, short, we were moving the launch point. He felt really good.”
With Saturday representing his second major workout on the path back to the practice field after missing the first three weeks of training camp with back soreness, Stafford threw over 60 passes at the Rams’ practice facility in Woodland Hills.
McVay said he is unsure if Stafford is still experiencing pain in his back.
Stafford began to experience the aggravated disc after the Rams’ offseason program, which led the Rams to hold their starting quarterback out of practice. He received an epidural shot to manage the soreness, and has not even participated in a jog through that’s been open to media to this point during camp.
