Napheesa Collier's historic showing propels her team to triumph in the WNBA All-Star Game

The 2025 WNBA All-Star Game took place in Indianapolis for the first time, but Team Napheesa Collier was determined not to let Team Caitlin Clark claim a win in front of the packed crowd at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Napheesa Collier made a statement with her record play on the court .Collier scored a record 36 points to help her team beat Team Clark 151-131 in the WNBA All-Star Game that is devoid of defense but full of 4-point shots.

This record offensive effort came a year after the league’s annual exhibition game is a competitive contest that pitted the U.S Olympic team against WNBA All-Stars.

“The players are approaching this with real seriousness, and I believe it sends a powerful message that we’re firmly standing our ground on issues we believe must be improved,” said Collier, who was named MVP of the game. “I think our message came through clearly.”

While she waited to receive her trophy, the crowd erupted in chants of “Pay them more,” while All-Star Brittney Sykes raised a sign reading “Pay the Players.”

Although team captain Caitlin Clark cannot play due to a groin injury sustained earlier in the week, she still took part in the weekend as an ambassador.

Diggins stated that her last-place finish in the WNBA Skills Challenge inspired her on Friday. "I was pissed I got last in the skills challenge. ... I knew I wanted to leave here with something."

In summary,Clark sat out the game due to a right groin injury she sustained during the Fever’s victory over the Connecticut Sun . However, she remained active by coaching alongside New York Liberty head coach Sandy Brondello and offering guidance from the sidelines. Kelsey Mitchell led Team Clark with 20 points, while Brittney Sykes and Gabby Williams each contributed 16 points.
