A woman was allegedly carjacked Friday by four suspects who appeared to be wielding guns, leading police on a short pursuit in Mission Beach.
The suspects, two men and two women, met with the victim at 11 p.m. on Thursday and began socializing. Their relationship was unclear, according to the San Diego Police Department.
The robbery occurred around 5:20 a.m. Friday when two of the suspects, while riding in the victim’s car, drew what were later determined to be imitation firearms and ordered the victim out of the vehicle. The suspects then drove away from 3150 Mission Blvd., near the intersection of Belmont Park, police said.
The vehicle was in the downtown area of San Diego when officers attempted a traffic stop. The driver did not respond, and a pursuit ensued, the department stated.
Police deployed tire deflation devices on the vehicle, which prompted three of the suspects to flee the vehicle on foot, but they were apprehended shortly afterward.
The fourth suspect, who stayed inside the vehicle, was also apprehended, police said.
Police said they recovered one imitation firearm from the vehicle.
No injuries were reported, and the make and model of the car were not released.
